Ukrainian parliament accuses president of crimes against humanity

The parliament of Ukraine has decided to file a lawsuit with the International Criminal Court at The Hague to jail President Victor Yanukovych, ex-Prosecutor General Victor Pshonka and ex-Interior Minister Vitaly Zakharchenko for crimes against humanity during peaceful protests from November 30, 2013, to February 22, 2014, ITAR-TASS reports.

339 MPs voted for the idea. The declaration passed by the legislators says that the said officials ordered physical suppression of protests, resulting in over 100 people dead and over 2,000 injured, including 500 gravely injured. Yanukovych is also accused of torture, use of water cannon at a temperature below 15 degrees C, and involvement in kidnappings, missing people, illegal detention, beatings and property destruction.
