RIA News, referring to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, reports that border guards of the republic are not stamping foreign and civil passports of Russian citizens, so that the Georgian authorities will have no proof as to whether a person visited the republic.
The Georgian Authorities had previously stated that anyone who visits the two republics will be jailed for 5 years or fined.
The only stamp that can be seen is the stamp of the Russian Border Service in the foreign passport, entered in the passport when leaving Russia. That is why it is recommended to visit South Ossetia and Abkhazia using a civil passport and a foreign passport when entering Georgia .
It was earlier said that those who cross a border with one of the republics not through Georgia will be fined about $1200 by the Georgian authorities and those cooperating with the authorities of the two states would be jailed for 5 years.
