Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a mass inspection of the Western and the Central Military District, RIA Novosti reports.
The Western Military District was alerted at 2.00PM today, according to Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu.
The first such inspections in 20 years took place in the Russian Armed Forces last year. Inspectors saw flaws in readiness of troops and decided to continue the practice of sudden alarms this year. Shoygu said that the inspections will allow military authorities to make adjustments in the military command system.
