Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachyov said that he was actively monitoring the situation in Ukraine and Crimea. He reminded that the Krasnodar Territory had initially been populated by settlers from Ukraine, Yuga.ru reports.
The governor added that the region was the only Russian territory to have direct borders with the Crimea. In his words, thousands of people from the Krasnodar Territory had friends and relatives over the Kerch Strait in the Crimea.
Tkachyov noted that anti-Russian tendencies in Ukraine were a threat. He praised the population of the Crimea for planning a referendum.
