Ukraine's Security Council may declare a state of emergency due to the increasing tensions in the Autonomous Republic of the Crimea, the body's Secretary Andriy Parubiy says on Wednesday.
Unknown armed people have recently captured the buildings of the Crimean Parliament and cabinet of ministers. Members of the regional parliament then dismissed the government, appointed a pro-Russian politician as the prime minister of the Crimea and scheduled a referendum concerning the legal status of the peninsula for May 25, 2014.
