Russian regions can give the inhabitants of the Crimea about 3-4 billion rubles of financial assistance, the head of the Federation Council Committee on Budget and the Financial Market Sergei Riabukhin announces today.
The committee approved the draft of the address of the upper chamber to the regions with a proposal to provide financial, humanitarian or other logistical assistance to the residents of the peninsula. The document will be considered at a meeting of the chamber on Wednesday, RIA Novosti reports.
In discussing options for the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Crimeans "the idea appeared to open a national account to let not only for regions, but also the citizens participate in helping," says the senator .
Senators also suggest sending 1 billion rubles from budget funds to regions for programs to improve the sustainability of regional economies, as compensation for the funds transferred to the Crimeans.
"Senators are also ready to transfer a part of their salary for these purposes. I think the proposal of one of our colleagues on the transfer of up to 50% of our salary to help the people of Crimea, which is within 100 thousand, is acceptable," Riabukhin concluded.
The draft of the address of the Federation Council to the regions also includes a proposal to create a commission to provide material and financial assistance to neighboring territories of Ukraine on the border with Ukrainian territories. On the Russian side of the border area, it is also proposed to establish centers of legal , logistical and financial support for Ukrainian refugees.
