Turkey will be chairing the UN Security Council for one month from September 1st, Trend reports, citing the Turkish information agency Naberturk. In 2009 Turkey became a temporary member of the UN Security Council for 2 years and has chaired it once already.
At the same time Turkey will chair the 65th General Assembly of the UN on September 20-22 in the UN headquarters in New York. In mid-September a delegation of high-ranking Turkish officials, headed by President Abdullah Gul and Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, will hold bilateral and multilateral negotiations in New York within the framework of the General Assembly.
