German ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schröder told the Yevropa-1 radio station that the EU had contributed to the crisis in Ukraine with its association agreement, ITAR-TASS reports.
The ex-chancellor criticized NATO and said that it had not given people any confidence.
Schröder spoke out against the isolation of Russia and urged countries to attend the G8 summit in Sochi.
