US urges Israel to soften its line on Iran

According to high-ranking sources in Washington, the White House has urged Israel to stop killing Iranian nuclear scientists. At least five specialists have been killed in Iran in the last several years. Iran has not found out who exactly was responsible for the attacks, but the Iranian authorities believe it was Mossad.

However the Israeli authorities have repeatedly denied these accusations. That is why the White House's appeal is seen as "treachery" by some Israeli officials. The Obama administration has actually admitted that Israel is responsible for killing scientists.

Moreover, President Obama has urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to "stop focusing on the Iranian nuclear programme." The prime minister however immediately showed that he was going to ignore Obama's advice and held a meeting, during which he demanded that Mossad should present certain evidence that Iran is indeed producing nuclear weapons.
