US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel have discussed the situation in Ukraine, emphasizing the need for direct talks between Russia and Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports.
They considered the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the prevention of an escalation, as well as monitoring missions. Obama and Merkel discussed the need to continue backing the Ukrainian government to stabilize the economy and prepare for elections in Ukraine in May.
