Russian President Vladimir Putin was nominated for the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, said Geir Lundestad, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, Yuga.ru reports.
He clarified that 278 candidates, including 47 organizations, were nominated. Lundestad noted that some corrections to the list of candidates will be made in the light of the Ukrainian events. Members of the Nobel Committee will gather on March 6 to discuss the candidates.
Besides Putin, the list includes Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai, CIS ex-agent Edward Snowden.
Putin did not receive the Nobel Prize last year.
