US President Barack Obama told his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin solution to the crisis in Ukraine in a telephone conversation, RIA Novosti reports.
Obama noted that the situation could be resolved diplomatically, with respect of Russian, Ukrainian and international interests. The US president proposed direct talks with the international society, dispatch of international observers to protect all Ukrainians, ethnic Russians, so that Russian troops could return to their bases and Ukraine could hold the polls in May.
Putin said that Russia could not ignore urges of the South-East of Ukraine and was acting according to the international law.
