Ambassador Andrey Baklanov, the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council (the upper chamber of the Russian Parliament), says Moscow will base its policy towards the Crimea on the Crimean population's will.
According to the lawmaker, the Crimean people have a rich experience of living in Ukraine and are able to make their own decision. At the same time, Russia is not going to pay attention to concerns voiced by Western powers, he underlines.
"We will base our policies on the will of the people who live in the Crimea," he says. Baklanov also urges the international community to remain "unprejudiced."
