Russia may stop gas deliveries to Ukraine

Russia's state-run gas-producing giant Gazprom says Ukraine's debt has reached $1.89 billion. It means that the country is no longer paying for Russian gas at all, the company's chief executive Alexey Miller says.

 

Ukraine's Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk has recently announced that former president Viktor Yanukovych and prime minister Mykola Azarov's policies had led to almost full bancruptcy and the country desperately needed austerity measures and foreign aid. 

 

The European Commission has said that the EU is ready to allocate 11 billion euros to Ukraine, while 600 millioneuros may be provided almost immediately. The US is ready to allocate $700 million at once, world media report.
