Turkey urges Crimea to scrap referendum

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has urged Crimea today to scrap the referendum of March 16 and find a political solution to the situation, Anadolu reports.

Davotoglu has already said that Crimea is part of Ukraine and instability in the country will affect the Black Sea Region. He noted that security of Crimean Tatars was a priority of Ankara and Turkey will protect them.

The Crimean parliament decided to merge with Russia. The March 16 referendum will determine the peninsula’s status.
