All the 70 participants of the unsanctioned meeting of opposition supporters at Moscow's Triumph Square have been released from police departments after filing administrative offense reports, RIA Novosti reports, citing the official spokesman of the Main Department of Internal Affairs in Moscow, Victor Biriukov.
Biriukov emphasized that the Special Police Force was not involved in suppressing the protest. The policemen picked out as Special Police Forces by journalists are members of the second operative police regiment.
Biriukov had said earlier that the police were acting adequately and without excessive force. He said that the protesters were constantly informed that the protest was not sanctioned by the authorities.
