15-year-old Berkin Elvan was hit by a tear gas grenade at the Gezi Park protests in Istanbul. He remained in a coma until his death at the Okmeydani Hospital this morning, RIA Novosti reports.
Elvan’s parents told about the death on Twitter. His friends started gathering at the hospital at 1.30PM. Hundreds of people have arrived. Two police buses have been seen in the area. Some people started throwing rocks at one of the buses. The police responded with gas grenades. The crowd is remaining near the hospital, shouting slogans and demanding a government reaction.
Berkin Elvan’s funeral will be organized tomorrow.
