The Russian Federal Migration Service will check Moscow secure facilities and clear them of illegal migrants. The Federal Service will cooperate with prosecutors to be given access to the facilities, said Deputy Head of the Moscow Directorate of the FNS Nikolai Azarov, Izvestia reports.
Illegal migrants and people harboring them will be punished.
Since the 1990s, many military facilities have been moved or closed down, though not removed from the registry of the Defense Ministry. Unused buildings have been leased by businessmen who, in their turn, allow illegal migrants to stay there.
