Yesterday, the US Congress condemned Russia for its actions in Ukraine and urged the White House to boot Russia out of the G8 and impose visa and economic sanctions, RIA Novosti reports.
402 congressmen voted for the initiative and 7 expressed their opinion about it. They proposed sending OSCE observers to Crimea and other Ukrainian regions. NATO was recommended to stop cooperation with Russia.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said that harm the sanctions may cause would be mutual because everyone was interdependent.
According to the resolution, the new Ukrainian government will be given economic support, assistance in reducing energy dependence on Russia. Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych called financial support for Ukrainian government illegal.
