Russian and Belarusian Presidents Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko have discussed the situation in Ukraine in a telephone conversation, according to Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov, ITAR-TASS reports.
The spokesman emphasized that no joint steps in Ukraine had been discussed. The presidents expressed understanding of the situation and its impact on the population of Ukraine.
According to Lukashenko’s press secretaries, the sides talked about the economic situation and developments on the Russian currency market. Putin ruled out any catastrophic tendencies and said that Russia had enough resources to keep the economic sustainable.
Lukashenko informed Putin about the March 23 elections to local Councils of Deputies.
