Russia and Iran discuss nuclear program

Iranian and Russian Presidents Hassan Rouhani and Vladimir Putin have had a telephone conversation about the talks of Iran and the Group of Six on the nuclear program, RIA Novosti reports.

The sides discussed intensification of cooperation, realization of joint projects, further dialogue in coping with regional and international problems, preparations for the Caspian summit.

Putin praised Iran for its constructive approach in negotiations with the Group of Six.

Iran and the Group of Six (USA, UK, France, Germany, China, Russia) agreed in November 2013 that Tehran would halt its nuclear program in exchange for ease of sanctions. Realization of the agreement started on January 20. A full-fledged agreement to lift all sanctions will be signed by July 20. Iran and the mediators will have a new round of talks in Vienna on March 17.
