Sergey Mironov, leader of the A Fair Russia Party, would introduce a bill to rehabilitate Tatars, should Crimea join Russia, ITAR-TASS reports.
He reminded that Ukraine had become independent after 1991. The rehabilitation acts passed in Russia had no affect on the Tatars living in Crimea. Tatars returning to Crimea after expulsion found their homes occupied.
Mironov proposes legalizing ownership of lands and buildings Tatars are currently occupying. He wants Russia to give them free registry of their real estate and grant new documents.
