20 Russian MPs already operating in Crimea will be the only Russian legislators monitoring the upcoming referendum. No additional MPs will take part in the monitoring mission, said Leonid Slutsky, Head of the Lower House of Parliament Committee for the CIS, Eurasian Integration and Contacts with Compatriots, Interfax reports.
A special flight with four MPs and a group of senators planned to fly to Crimea on Saturday was cancelled. Tatyana Moskalkova (A Fair Russia), Slutsky’s deputy, confirmed that no such flight will be made.
Alexander Yushchenko (CPRF) confirmed that no other MPs will visit Crimea.
A delegation of 8 Federation Council members headed by Valery Ryazansky will monitor the referendum.
