French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said that Russia’s membership in the G8 had been frozen, Interfax reports.
Seven G8 members will gather for a meeting this evening. The Russian president is still invited to France to mark the 7th anniversary of Operation Overlord (Normandy landing) on June 6.
The Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia will not change its foreign policy over criticism from G8 members.
