Russian Black Sea Fleet to receive new submarines and guard ships

The Russian Black Sea Fleet will receive new project-636 submarines to operate in the group covering the Mediterranean Sea, said Admiral Victor Chirkov, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Naval Forces, RIA Novosti reports.

The submarines are under construction at the Admiral Wharfs in Saint Petersburg. They will join the Black Sea Fleet by 2016.

The fleet will also be strengthened by the project-1135.6 guard ships.
