Commander of the Ukrainian Naval Forces Sergey Gaychuk and seven activists of the new Ukrainian government were released at Chongar this morning, said Ukrainian MP Andrey Senchenko, ITAR-TASS reports.
The commander was detained by prosecutors in Sevastopol. According to them, Gaychuk was informing Ukrainian troops about the “Kiev order to shoot peaceful civilians.”
Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergey Shoygu asked Crimea to release the naval commander and let him return to Ukraine. Shoygu added that Gaychuk was following orders he was given.
