Alexander Khloponin, Plenipotentiary Presidential Envoy to the NCFD, proposed organizing a festival of ethnic music, an alternative to the World of Music, Arts and Dance (WOMAD). Peter Gabriel, one of WOMAD organizers, cancelled it due to the events in Ukraine.
Russia hosted WOMAD at Mashuk (Pyatigorsk) on September 21-22, 2013. Khloponin said back then that the festival should spend years in the North Caucasus.
