US President Barack Obama said that Washington did not want Ukraine to choose between Russia and Europe. He denied views of the situation as a zero-sum game similar to the Cold War, ITAR-TASS reports.
Obama encourages Ukraine to cooperate with the US, Russia and Europe. He emphasized that Russia should understand that it was violating the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The US leader noted that EU sanctions against Russia were an important step. Obama reminded that he had ordered sanctions against key Russian economic sectors, which, in his words, was a tough decision.
