Marie Harf, spokeswoman of the US State Department, said that the US was concerned over the summons for Georgian ex-President Mikheil Saakashvili to visit the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office that was issued on Saturday, RIA Novosti reports.
She believes that it may be a political revenge.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakly Garibashvili visited Washington in February. The US urged Georgian leaders to focus on the economy, court reforms, progress in Euro-Atlantic integration.
Saakashvili is to visit the Prosecutor General’s Office on March 27. A refusal to do so will mean that he will be put on the international wanted list.
