Russian president Dmitry Medvedev arrived in Azerbaijan today on an
official visit. From the airport the delegation headed to the Memorial
Alley to pay his respects to the national hero, Heydar Aliyev, and lay
a wreath at his tomb. The Russian leader will then visit the Alley of
the Fallen and lay a wreath at the Eternal Flame.
The official part of the visit will take place on the 3rd of September.
In the evening the president and his wife will attend a recital organized by the president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, in the "Gulistan" palace, one of the highest points of the capital with wonderful views of the Caspian Sea.
This is the third visit of the Russian president to Azerbaijan since he was inaugurated.
