CSTO foreign ministers to discuss situation in Afghanistan

CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zaynetdinov stated that the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers will gather in Moscow on April to discuss the situation in Afghanistan, ITAR-TASS reports.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will chair the meeting. CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha will present a report on the CSTO responsibility zone and situation in neighbour areas.

A declaration for Afghanistan will be made in the light of the upcoming presidential polls in the republic. A plan of consultations of CSTO member states will be signed to organize meetings on foreign policy, security and defenses in the second half of 2014 – first half of 2015.

The ministers will discuss modernization of foreign political coordination within the framework of the CSTO, development of cooperation in the information sector with the civil society and young people.
