NATO freezes military cooperation with Russia

NATO foreign ministers have stopped military cooperation with Russia and will keep in touch with it via ambassadors and high-ranking officials within the framework of the Russia-NATO Council, RIA Novosti reports.

The ministers will discuss relations with Russia in June. NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen expects drug control cooperation with Russia in Afghanistan to continue.

No new training will be organized for with Russia to teach Afghan and Pakistani drug control services. The ministerial decision will also affect helicopter maintenance in Afghanistan.

The NATO will continue transit from Afghanistan through Russia.
