The 10-day strike at the Israeli Foreign Ministry over low salaries and poor working conditions has ended. Yakov Livne, one of the leaders of the diplomats’ trade union, said that the strike had achieved all the staff could expect, RIA Novosti reports.
The strike affected the ministry and 103 embassies, consulates and offices in international organizations. The struggle between the Foreign and the Finances Ministries has been ongoing for years. The latest strike was provoked by failure to achieve compromise in early March 2014. The strike has ruined the visit of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Mexico, Panama and Colombia.
