Mehmet Mesut, head of the municipality of the Siirt Province (Turkey), has been detained for murder of Bahman Aydin, a member of the Felicity Party, Trend reports.
Four other people were detained. Mesut was one of the candidates to head the municipality on the March 30 elections.
Aydin was killed by unidentified assailants on March 31. Five people escorting him were wounded.
The Felicity Party is an Islamic organization opposed to the government. It received less than 1% of votes at the recent elections. The ruling Justice and Development Party received 45.6%.
