Amendments to the Kabardino-Balkarian Constitution and the law on election of the republic’s head have been passed at a parliament session today. The parliament has cancelled direct votes and will elect the republic’s leader itself, Interfax-South reports.
The Russian president will propose three candidates for the parliament. Kabardino-Balkaria has become one of the two regions of the NCFD that cancelled direct votes. Chechnya is the only republic insisting on direct votes.
