The mayor's office of Yerevan did not allow the Armenian opposition to
hold a rally. The opposition movement 'Armenian National Congress'
(ANG) has said that despite this they will hold mass protests on
September 17th, Gazeta.ru reports.
Coordinator of the ANG Levon Zurabyan informed that the protest will
be held on Freedom Square in front of the National Opera and Ballet
building in Yerevan.
The mayor's office explained that they had planned another event for
the day on Freedom Square and suggested the opposition hold their
rally at the Institute of Ancient Manuscripts 'Matenadaran'. The
opposition refused.
The main demands of the ANG are the release of political convicts and
snap elections.
