International mediators and Iran meet in Vienna to prepare for negotiations

A meeting of experts of the "six" international mediators and Iran aimed at preparing the third round of negotiations on comprehensive settlement of the Iranian nuclear problem started in Vienna on Thursday, a diplomatic source close to the negotiations confirmed to RIA Novosti. Following the results of the previous, second round of talks held in Vienna on March 18-19, it was announced that the third round at the level of political directors would be held in the Austrian capital on April 7-9, and the expert meeting - on April 3-5.

 

In November, 2013, representatives of the "six" (Russia, the USA, the UK, France, Germany and China) and Iran agreed on a temporary restriction of the Iranian nuclear program in exchange for a partial suspension of the US and EU sanctions against the country. At the same time, during six months, that is, until July 20, it is intended to produce a comprehensive agreement, which must guarantee the absence of a military component in Iran's nuclear program in exchange for the total lifting of sanctions.

 

On Thursday, a diplomatic source close to the negotiations told RIA Novosti that in case the parties started documenting agreements during the third round, it would be a sign of rapid and positive development of the negotiation process.
