Russian and Azerbaijani presidents take a stroll in Baku

Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliyev and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev toured places of interest in the historic center of Baku yesterday accompanied by their spouses, AzerTAj reports.


The Russian president and his wife Svetlana first visited the Philharmonic Garden. The Azerbaijani president and his wife Mehriban told their Russian guests about the history of the Garden and the renovation work done there.


After that they visited the Icharishahar, the Inner City, the historic core of the Azerbaijani capital, included in UNESCO`s World Heritage List in 2000.


The presidents and their spouses also viewed Karvansaray and the Meiden Tower, built in the early 15th century. The visitors also viewed traditional Azerbaijani crafts and sampled the national cuisine. The Russian president was presented with a keepsake. At the end of the day, the Azerbaijani and Russian presidents andtheir spouses took a stroll in the National Coastal Park.
