Oleksandr Turchynov, speaker of parliament and the acting president of Ukraine, said that the situation in the eastern parts of the country will normalize soon, ITAR-TASS reports.
He noted that the Security Service in Donetsk and the administration in Kharkov were had been cleared of protesters. Tyrchynov added that several officers were injured by radicals armed with guns and grenades during the operation.
The speaker confirmed the detention of 70 people and the prevention of provocations in the Dnepropetrovsk and Nikolayevsk regions. He said the administration building of the Donetsk region and the Security Service in Lugansk would also soon be cleared of protesters.
Nikolai Knyazhnitsky of the Fatherland Party said that all activists detained in Kharkov were taken in custody to Kiev and Poltava. According to the legislator, the Jaguar regiment of Western Territorial Command of the Interior Forces in Ukraine (Kalinovka, Vinnytsia Oblast) was operating in Kharkov.
