US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had two telephone conversations about developments in the eastern part of Ukraine and the transportation of Syrian chemical weapons, RIA Novosti reports.
Kerry said that the US was putting efforts into persuading Kiev to organize dialogue within the country and normalize the situation in the south-east.
