In a statement issued on Thursday, Russia’s Foreign Ministry accused NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen of making NATO an “elite club” with “double standards” for foreign policy players, The Associated Press reported. The statement also said that NATO was “zealously reproducing Cold War-era rhetoric.”
"NATO remains firmly committed to the principles of collective security. We take legitimate action in response to the instability caused by the illegitimate actions of Russia", said Fogh Rasmussen, quoted by Itar-Tass. In the same statement, he called the "Russian propaganda" allegations that NATO operates in the logic of the Cold War.
