In response to Palestine’s bid to join 15 international organizations and treaties, Israel has imposed economic sanctions on the Palestinian National Authority, RIA Novosti reports.
Israel considers the bids filed by President of the Palestinian National Authority Mahmoud Abbas a violation of peace processes and a unilateral attempt to gain independence. The financial sanctions will be used to cover Palestine’s debts.
Israel will freeze development of gas fields on the Gaza shelf and freeze deposits of Palestine.
Israeli ministers were ordered to stop contacts with their Palestinian colleagues. The sanctions have no impact on the group of negotiators headed by Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni under US mediation.
