Activists demanding a referendum in the Donetsk Oblast said that armored vehicles were entering Sloviansk as part of acting Interior Minister Arsen Avakov’s military operation. Vyacheslav Ponomarev, warned that tanks and self-propelled guns were moving to the city. 40 armored vehicles and four carriages with national guards were reported 50km away from Slavyansk in Barvenkovo yesterday. Helicopters were seen over the city, RIA Novosti reports.
The local resistance denied any military operations, including any such processes in Andreyevka.
Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, said that a special operation may start at any moment, though there were many false reports about military activities in the media. He noted that the military were not loyal and the Kiev authorities realized that military actions could provoke Russia. A military operation would undermine the four-sided talks set for April 17.
Korotchenko emphasized that a military operation would make acting President Oleksndr Turchynov a military criminal.
