US, EU, Russia and Ukraine reach an agreement

The United States, the European Union and Russia have said that all sides have agreed to steps to "de-escalate" the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, the BBC reports on Thursday night.

The foreign ministers were speaking at the end of talks between Russia, Ukraine, the EU and the US held in the Swiss city of Geneva today.

Analysts say the outline agreement could halt the economic sanctions the West was preparing to impose on Russia, the BBC informs.
