U.S. President Barack Obama said commenting on the meeting of Russia, Ukraine, U.S. and the EU in Geneva that Ukraine will guarantee protection of Russians’ rights on its territory, RIA Novosti reports.
In his words, Kiev is ready to make concessions for the southern and south-eastern parts of the country.
The four-sided talks were concluded with a joint document in Geneva. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the main result of the meeting was recognition of the fact that Ukrainians should overcome the crisis on their own.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry noted that the Ukrainian foreign minister had assured of a full-fledged, transparent and responsible constitutional reform with account of interests of all regions. Kerry added that annexation of Crimea and deployment of Russian forces to the Ukrainian border were not discussed at the meeting.
