The CEC of South Ossetia finished receiving party lists and documents on parliamentary candidates of the sixth convocation today at 18.00.
The vote is scheduled for June 8. Elections are held under the proportional system. For a party to be represented in the legislature, it is necessary to reach 7%, RIA Novosti reports.
"By this time the documents have been handed over by 9 of the 14 parties entitled to participate in the elections. These are the parties "United Ossetia,","New Ossetia," "Unity," the Communist Party, "Unity of the People," the "People's Party," the parties "Fatherland," "Nykhas" and "Motherland," the head of the CEC Bella Plieva told RIA Novosti.
Within three days the Commission must examine the documents, then another five days will be spent on checking the candidates as to whether they have the necessary residency requirements, and then the CEC will decide on whether to register a party or refuse it.
The law allows participation in the parliamentary elections only for the parties that passed the state registration at least one year before the date of the vote.
