Signing of Caspian convention postponed

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a meeting with his Caspian counterparts in Moscow that many principles had been negotiated for the Caspian convention, but there were no plans to conclude development of the document for the Astrakhan summit, ITAR-TASS reports.

He clarified that the foreign ministers had found common grounds on delimitation of borders and protection of sturgeons.

Lavrov reminded that leaders of Caspian states had set goals at the 2010 Caspian summit: development of parameters for waste disposal, realization of security cooperation agreements, development of fishing mechanisms.
