Armenian ex-Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan discussed the need for the luxury tax and initiated amendments to the law on excise taxes in 2011, News.am reports.
Sargsyan’s law only affects luxury cars. Prime Minister Ovik Abramyan scrapped the law, freeing importers of luxury vehicles (worth about $61,000 and above) from paying 20% of the excise tax.
