Russian foreign minister calls for organizing Geneva-3 Conference faster

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after a meeting with his Lebanese counterpart Gebran Bassil that the third round of inter-Syrian talks should be organized as soon as possible, ITAR-TASS reports.

He noted that the Geneva-2 format would not be exhausted and the sides should not give up attempts to find solutions. The Russian minister emphasized that they should stick to the agreements reached fixed in the Geneva Communique.

According to Lavrov, Russia will continue supplying Lebanon, where more than a million Syrian refugees reside, with humanitarian aid. The figure totals about a quarter of the Lebanese population.

The minister said that he had discussed settlement of conflicts in the Middle East taking into account the refugees from Palestine in Lebanon.
