The White House on Monday announced sanctions against 7 top Russian officials with links to President Vladimir Putin, including freezing their assets and banned them from obtaining U.S. visas, the AP reports. It also threatened further economic sanctions on key sectors of the Russia economy if the is evidence of further Kremlin involvement in the unrest in eastern Ukraine. The list of officials includes Igor Sechin, the president of the state-owned Rosneft oil company, Dmitry N. Kozak, a deputy prime minister and Aleskei Pushkov, the chairman of the international affairs committee of the State Duma.
The sanctions also target 17 companies, freezing their assets.
